President Obama Visits the Triad

GCS teachers and administrators were in the audience Tuesday as President Barack Obama made a stop in Jamestown as a part of a promotional tour for the proposed American Jobs Act.

Ragsdale teacher Linda Phillips introduced the President to the capacity crowd in the gym at the Ragsdale YMCA. Obama had earlier met privately with Phillips and other educators to discuss issues facing education.

The president urged the crowd to lobby their congressional representatives to pass the proposed $447 billion jobs bill. The legislation, he says, could create thousands of jobs for teachers, police officers, firefighters and construction workers.
