Application Process

Due to our admission criteria, Brown Summit Middle School has a separate application from other magnet schools in Guilford County.   The application may be picked up at Brown Summit Middle School or downloaded from the GCS webpage or our school webpage.

 is due at BSMS by 5:00 on Friday, February 22, 2013 

Magnet Selection Process

Due to the rigor of the curriculum and the pace of the instruction, it is required that our students meet the following criteria:

--> Students must score 70% or above in both Math and Reading on the EOG's for their 4th Grade Year.
--> a final (year end) grade of an A or B in each subject area in the 4th Grade Year.
--> a semester grade of an A or B in each subject area in the first semester of the 5th Grade Year.

Applicants meeting criteria with siblings who will continue in our program the following year are automatically selected.

We cannot select students by ethnicity or gender.

OUR GOAL:  To select the most academically advanced and diverse group of students that our criteria and applicant pool will allow.
