Coach J. Scott Shaw

Coach Shaw was named head coach of the Northern wrestling team in 2012.  Prior to NGHS, he served as an assistant coach at Page High School.  Shaw has many years of coaching experience, including 3 years volunteer coaching at UNCG where they had 3 NCAA Division I Qualifiers and 1 NWCA Academic All-American.  He spent 7 years leading high school wrestlers in Georgia to 5, 4A State Championships and 3, 1A State Championships.

Coach Shaw has a B.S. degree in History from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga with a minor in Economics.  He was named to the Athletic Student Honor Roll participating in NCAA Division I wrestling.  He will receive a B.A. in Psychology/Pre-Occupational Therapy from UNCG in May, 2013.

Four Nighthawk Wrestlers Place 1st at Conference Tournament

Four Northern wrestlers placed 1st at the conference tournament held at Eastern Alamance High School on February 9, 2013.  Congratulations to (l-r) Nathan Myers, Jacob Burt, Alex Roberts and Jamir Hart.  Alex Roberts was also named Coaches’ MVP for the tournament and the season.  Great job to Alex and the entire Nighthawk Wrestling Team!
