3rd grade started an inquiry into “How We Organize Ourselves” by learning about the characteristics of a responsible citizen. We expanded our understanding and knowledge of our responsibilities as citizens. We discovered which IB attitudes and Learner Profile attributes were exhibited by responsible citizens and are continuously trying to model them. We learned about the needs in a community and the importance of leaders and their roles within local, state and national communities.
Our unit, “YES WE CAN” empowered us to make a change and reflect on our character and think about any improvements that we could make to become a better citizen of our learning community and neighborhood. This unit was a great character building unit that hopefully has planted seeds in us to become great citizens individually and in our community. |
