Dear Parents,

Welcome to 2nd grade! I am excited to have your child in my class.  With your help and support at home, I expect this year to be a successful one for all of us. The first couple of weeks we will focus on following directions quickly, routines and procedures in the classroom, and adhering to classroom rules.

Absences-please send a written note or email whenever your child is absent stating the reason for the absence.  If I do not receive a note within three days, the absence is considered unexcused.

Arrivals and Departures-please make sure your child is on time. We begin promptly when the bell rings. If your child is going home a different way from their regular routine, please send a written note.  I need to get approval from the office for children to ride a different bus or to go home with someone else. I am not always able to check my email during the day, so I need this information first thing in the morning.

Behavior Management-Do the right thing!

Birthdays-Please do not send candy or sweets for your child's birthday. You may purchase a book for the class to be read in your child's honor or pencils, etc.

Communication-It is imperative that you communicate with me. You may contact me through email hennigb@gcsnc.com Always come to me first to discuss a problem. If you are not satisfied with the outcome, then we will go a step further.

Snacks-You may send a healthy snack with your child. No sodas or candy. Make sure you have spoons or other necessary utensils included with the snack.

Lunch-  A lot of children enjoy bringing their lunch or you may buy school lunch. You can go online to put money in your child's account.  Please let me know if it is okay for your child to buy bottled water, double the main entree, crackers, etc.  Some students spend a lot of money on extras and it quickly decreases the amount of money in your account.  I allow my students to purchase ice-cream on Fridays only.
