Dear Parent Volunteers,

Thank you so much for offering to volunteer your time to our school. Volunteers like you can remake our children's attitudes about school. You show your child and others how important school is. I look forward to working with and meeting you.

Thank you for being sooo patient while we try to see where our needs for NE are and making them available to you.

Here are our first volunteer opportunities:

PE Committee: We would like two 6^th grade parents to head up our PE committee.

The time needed is a few hours a couple of weeks before school starts and the first two weeks of school. This is a great committee if you'd like to interact with the kids.

8^th Grade Dance committee: A committee to oversee the 8^th grade dance. This dance is a huge deal for the 8^th graders. We need this committee formed by Feb. The dance is at the end of the school year.

PTA finance committee: Time needed appoximately. 1 hour a month.

PTA members: As always we welcome you to join PTA. Our meetings are the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm. We want and need your thoughts and ideas. If you don't want to come every month. At least come and check out one or two meetings to find out what great things PTA is already trying to put in motion for this year. This is a great way to get plugged in to what's going on at our school.

A Honor Roll Committee: to help set up, serve and clean up for the A Honor Roll Breakfast which is every 9 weeks

Rammy Awards Committee:  to help set up, serve and clean up for the Rammy Awards which are every 9 weeks in the afternoon around 130 or 200 pm

Boxtops for schools Committee: to help collect, count and turn in our boxtops. We had had several people ask about this and we need someone to start this back at NE.

Concession Stand looking for parent volunteers for football, wrestling, and basketball.

We are still working on team rep. for our teachers. We have also asked for individual teacher needs and waiting for our responses. I do know we desperately need some parents to help children with Math and I will check with Ms Brown about reading. This is especially rewarding and you get to work closely with the students.

Also each grade level will have a community service project this year. 8^th grade's is Habitat for Humanity and all grades will need parent involment. Will send out more information on this as its available.

YOU can make a big difference. We had a parent show up to volunteer last year that noticed some problems at our school she thought she could help with and started a petition, showed up for school board meetings and got attention for us in the newspaper.

All she did was show up! I don't know all of your talents and interests but show up and tell us what you can do. We all pull together and help each other so don't think if you take on one of these committees you are all by your lonesome. We all agree to disagree sometimes and all have the desire to make NE a better place for our children to go to school. Please come and join us. There is a place and a need for you at NE.
