WH Plemmons Leader Fellows at Appalachian State University is looking for students who have demonstrated leadership and successful involvement in their high school or community. Kappa Alpha Psi Beautillion Militaire Scholarship Program is for young men who are interested in pursuing a higher education, who are active in academic, athletic or extracurricular activities and have a C average or higher. Sallie Southall Cotton Scholarship is awarded based on the applicants' character, scholastic record, intellectual promise, ambition & leadership ability and financial need. This scholarship is renewable if the student maintains a positive academic record and conduct. Deadline: December 19, 2009
UNC-Greensboro Merit Scholarships for students who are a high school senior, have a minimum SAT of 1800 or ACT of 27, cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above and have been admitted to UNCG by Jan. 4. Applications can be found at www.uncg.edu/fia/meritawards. Deadline: January 4, 2010
Gates Millennium Scholars Program Scholarship is for African-American, American Indian, Asian or Hispanic American student who is a citizen or permanent resident of the US, has an unweighted GPA of 3.3, and has demonstrated leadership abilities through community service, extracurricular or other activities. Mary & Elliott Wood Foundation Scholarships are available for students who have high personal character, leadership and scholastic ability. Students must have completed a highly rigorous course of study and be planning to attend an accredited college or university. Deadline: January 15, 2010
William H. & Elizabeth Gray Danforth Scholars Program At Washington University in St. Louis is looking for students who have exhibited a capacity for service and leadership, as well as academic excellence. Deadline: January 15, 2010; School Deadline: January 4, 2010
John R. Kernodle Memorial Scholarship is available for students interested in pursuing a career in teaching. Scholarships are given based on financial need and merit. Deadline: February 1, 2010
National FFA Collegiate Scholarship is available on-line starting November 15. Applicants can get an application at www.ffa.org and click scholarship. Deadline: February 15, 2010; Signature pages must be postmarked by February 22, 2010.
National Co-op Scholarship is available to students who have applied and have been admitted to one of the following universities: Drexel, Johnson & Wales, Kettering, Pace, Rochester Institute of Technology, Univ of Cincinnati, Univ of Toledo or Wentworth Institute of Technology. North Carolina State US Bowling Congress Association Youth Scholarship is for any senior who is a member of the NCS USBCA and bowls in a certified USBC NC youth league and still has amateur status in bowling. Applications can be found at www.ncbowls.com. Deadline: March 1, 2010
Suntrust Off To College Scholarship Sweepstakes is open to any high school senior planning to attend college in the fall. Enter on-line at www.offtocollege.info. One winner is chosen every 2 weeks from a random drawing.
North Carolina Education and Training Voucher for student who have aged out of the foster care system at age 18 or were adopted from foster care with adoption finalization after your 16th birthday; you must be under 21 years of age, must be accepted into or be enrolled in a degree, certificate, or other accredited program at a college or vocational program and show progress towards that degree or certificate. You must not have personal assets greater than $10,000, must be a US citizen or qualified non-citizen, and be eligible for the NC LINKS program. To apply go to www.statevoucher.org, click on North Carolina, and click the Apply button.
Rukus House Scholarship is for North Carolina residents who plan to attend college to pursue a career in early childhood, elementary, or special education. Applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements: Be accepted and enrolled in a public North Carolina college or university; Present one official transcript from the high school and college or university attended demonstrating at least a 3.0 grade point average (GPA); Provide two letters of recommendation from teachers, employers, or administrators. North Carolina 4-H Development Fund Scholarships: Recipient must be a resident of North Carolina, enrolling as an undergraduate in a four-year accredited North Carolina college or university or a junior or community college in the state, provided the program of study selected is transferable to a four-year college; have an outstanding record of 4-H Club participation and achievement; possess an excellent high school academic record; and demonstrate an aptitude for college work through SAT scores.
