Grades are based on the following:

•·   Daily participation -Students who come prepared and who participate fully end class each day with 100 points. Points are deducted for not having materials, for non-participation, and for other infractions of the expectations.

Points are deducted as follows:

-50 points if no instrument is brought, unless instrument is in shop being repaired and a note from parent/guardian is brought to director.

-20 points: no music

-10 points: nails or false nails reach beyond tips of fingers

If a student does not participate at all, no points are earned. Points will be deducted according to percentage of class in which a student does not participate.

•·   Written quizzes and tests -These will be given periodically throughout the quarter.

•·   Performance tests -Students will have performance tests in class periodically to insure that adequate practice is taking place. Students are expected to practice at home to improve on skills taught in class. No practice records will be required, but tests will help indicate if student is spending enough time practicing and/or practicing well.

•·   Concert participation

High School Students Only : Each semester you will have an exam.
