Johnson Street Global Studies has a partnership with Changzhou Garden Middle School in Jiangsu Province, China. The partnership was established in 2007 to help students at both schools learn about the culture in another country and to communicate with students and teachers to learn about education and life in at the partner school. Officials from Johnson Street met with officials at the Jiangsu Education Service for International Education for an introduction to Education in Jiangsu province in October 2007. Afterwards they visited the school on October 17th and 18th where they were warmly greeted with the Dragon Dance performance. Other activities at the school included visiting classes, meeting with teachers and students, and learning about the culture of the school. The school visit was the beginning of a partnership between the schools which will allow students and teachers to correspond with one another by e-mail and other internet applications. The principal of Changzhou Garden Middle School visited Johnson Street Global Studies in the spring of 2008. Another visit to Johnson Street is planned for October 30-November 6, 2012. Four teachers will visit Johnson Street Global and other educational institutions as they learn about education in the United States.
The partnership was established through NC in the World, which was a statewide collaborative effort to strengthen K-12 international education. Although NC in the World is no longer in existence, Johnson Street hopes to continue to partner with Changzhou Garden Middle School to expand our global knowledge.
