STANDARD MODE OF DRESS

ALLOWED

NOT ALLOWED

SHIRTS

Colors : Solid White, Solid Navy, Solid Royal Blue

Styles: Polo (2-3 button with collar), turtleneck, oxford  (button-up)

Material: cotton, cotton twill, linen

Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.


Denim, form-fitting spandex, too tight, logos, writing, graphics/pictures, layering of shirts, sheer/see-through material

Visible undershirts/tank tops, etc. must not be larger, nor sleeves longer than outer shirt and must be in SMOD shirt colors.

PANTS

Colors : black, khaki, navy

Styles:  dress, chino, Capri, straight-legged, cargo, carpenter

Material: cotton, cotton twill


Pant legs cannot be worn in boots, rolled up or rolled under.

Denim, rivets, jeans style, spandex, (sweat pants, nylon track-style) sagging, baggy, form-fitting, logos larger than a credit card,  writing, graphics, decorative stitching; below natural waist or hip-hugging, pant legs rolled up/under

SKIRTS and SKORTS

Colors : black, khaki, navy blue

Length: At the knee

Material:  cotton, cotton twill

Denim, rivets, jeans style, spandex, sweats, nylon track-style, sagging, baggy, form-fitting, logos, writing, graphics, decorative stitching, splits/slits; below natural waist or hip-hugging

SHORTS and SKORTS

Colors:  black, khaki, navy

Style:  walking style

Length:  At the knee

Material:  cotton, cotton twill


Denim, rivets, jeans style, spandex, sweats, nylon track-style, sagging, baggy, form-fitting, logos, writing, graphics, decorative stitching; below natural waist or hip-hugging

SHOES - tie-ups, buckle-up, athletic, closed toe/closed heel with a hard sole/bottom. Boots must be covered by the legs of the pants.

Flip-flops, bedroom slippers, net slides, soft-bottom shoes

BELTS and ACCESSORIES plain buckle belt in black or brown.

If a garment has belt loops, students are to wear a belt through the loops.

Chain belts, suspenders, oversized/lengthy belts, hats, caps, bandannas, or related headdress, sunglasses

SPECIAL EVENT/SPORT WEAR - Polos,  T-Shirts, Turtlenecks, Sweatshirts may be worn over SMOD appropriate shirt. Chorus shirts, band shirts, cheerleading attire, and any other special order shirts may only be worn for special events, not as regular SMOD attire.

  • Shirts are to be tucked in at all times.
  • If garment has belt loops you must wear a belt through the loops.
  • Clothing must be clean, no rips/tears, hemmed and worn as designed (no rolled up/rolled under pant legs).
  • No decorative adornments on clothing. Ex: extra stitching, decorative pocket flaps, beads, tear offs, holes, etc.
  • Clothing must be worn so as not to be a distraction.  Ex: no tight, low-cut or immodestly open shirts, hip-hugging or tight fitting pants/skirt/shorts/skorts.
  • Visible undershirts/tank tops, etc. must not be larger, nor sleeves longer than outer shirt and must be in SMOD shirt colors.
  • Outerwear will not be worn in the classroom.


All students are expected to follow and maintain the AMS Standard Mode of Dress policy. Students will be viewed as non-compliant for repeated Standard Mode of Dress (SMOD) violations.

Consequences will be administered accordingly.
