Student Dress |
Students should dress appropriately for school and school-related activities. Clothing should not be distracting, offensive, or a disruption to the learning process; it should be neat and clean. The following expectations for student apparel at Southeast High School : Any item that may not be listed below that is determined to be disruptive will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. 1. Female attire should have no bare back, low neck, bare midriff, spaghetti straps, low riding pants or tank tops with less than a two inch wide strap. Necklines of shirts should not show cleavage. Shirts should overlap pants (no flesh should show). Tube tops, lingerie tops, and visible undergarments are not permitted. Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be mid-thigh length. Use the "finger-tip" rule when in question. 2. Male attire will not include muscle shirts or tank tops-all shirts must have sleeves. All pants must be worn at the waist. No sagging pants are permitted. Shirts must not fall beneath the hips. Long shirts (fingertip rule) are not to be worn at Southeast High. Students found in violation will be asked to tuck their shirt inside their pants. Belts must be buckled if worn and shoes must be tied. 3. No undergarments may show. See-through type clothing is not allowed. Pants with excessive holes are not allowed. 4. Shoes must be worn at all times. Bedroom slippers are NOT allowed at SEHS. 5. All attire must be free of alcoholic beverages and bars, tobacco, sex, drugs, vulgar or profane statements / symbols (Scarface). Shirts must not include wording or symbols that are offensive to any person or group (confederate flags). 6. Shirts must not display gang symbols, gestures or wording. Gang colors are not allowed at any time; this includes bandanas used to display gang colors. Pants may not be tucked into socks. No visible gang-related tattoos. 7. No head wear (male or female) of any kind should be worn in the building. This includes, but is not limited to, hats, hoods, wave caps, sweatbands, bandanas, sunglasses, goggles, earmuffs, or combs / picks in the hair. 8. The following items are also not permitted: blankets, towels, long raincoats, chains, studded necklaces / wristbands. Southeast High School and Guilford County Schools reserve the right to modify this policy as necessary and reserve the right to determine what might be disruptive and unsafe. The dress code policy is in effect every day of the school year, including the first and last weeks, exam days, shortened days, snow days, and special events unless otherwise noted. Students in violation will be asked to change the offensive clothing or to call a parent to bring additional clothing. Repeat offenders will face disciplinary actions in accordance with Rule 6 in the GCS Student Code of Conduct. |
