In other school news, June remediation was fantastic - 81% of students who were eligible to come to remediation and retest came during their summer free time in June and they were very successful at getting the Algebra I, English 9, Civics & Econ, US History, and/or Biology state tests passed either on retest 1, 2 or by portfolio.  Congratulations to these hardworking students and teachers!  Thank you also to Mrs. Rakes and Mr. McDonald for organizing this is such an effective manner.

We have had two groups of Level I/II students from the rising 9th graders with us these last couple of weeks.  The first group was here Monday - Thursday of last week, and the second group is meeting this week Monday - Thursday, with computer skills testing on Monday, July 20.  All level I/II students were invited.  We will have more than 70 students in attendance.  They have worked on computer skills, team building, character development, math/problem soving and literacy during this "Jump Start" adventure.

On July 23, all rising 9th graders and their parents are invited to a Pre-Open House meeting at 6:00pm beginning in the Ragsdale auditorium.  See above announcement for details.  Please, please make every effort to attend and to be here at 6pm.

If you know any rising 9th grade families who don't currently have high school age students, please encourage them to visit the Ragsdale High webpage and subscribe to weekly notes.

Scheduling is interesting this summer due to switching from SIMS to NCWISE computer programs AND budget restrictions.  Summer employment has been restricted for assistant principals and counselors, so you guys are pretty much just stuck with me for the next three weeks.  We are working diligently trying to get a master schedule completed and individual student schedules ready.  You will receive more information about this as we make more progress.

Thank you to the folks who came to our June dress code fashion show and slide show.  We had 8 student models (so great!) and a chance to answer questions.  Unfortunately only about 30 families attended, but they had all their questions answered. Don't forget, if you have questions about the dress code, please refer to the green handout that was mailed to you and visit our webpage to view the slide-show about the new modifications.

Thank you and have a fun, safe break.  Email me at rogersk@gcsnc.com or call at 299-7783, 819-2960 if you have any questions or comments.
