Safety Patrol The sun is beginning to rise. Cars and buses begin to fill the front and back lots of the school. Walkers and bikers approach on the neighborhood sidewalks. Waiting to greet the morning’s arrivals is a group of enthusiastic,energy-filled, orange-belted 5th graders! These students are Claxton’s Safety Patrol. They completed a rigorous process to demonstrate their responsibility and ability to be good Safety Patrol members. These fifth graders must be respectful, responsible, and demonstrate leadership in both class and with their peers. They line the driveway to greet and help the car riders; greet bus riders; and monitor the hallways and outside sidewalks. They remind students to follow Claxton’s rules, help adults and visitors with directions or carrying things, and smile and greet those moving about the school in the early morning. Their service is crucial to the smooth beginning of each school day. |
