Guilford County Schools (GCS) teacher Kimberly James is the newest recipient of the Milken Family Foundation National Educator Award, what some call the “Oscar of Teaching.” State Superintendent June Atkinson made the surprise announcement today. James, an exceptional children teacher at Triangle Lake Montessori, is among the nation’s 55 most recent recipients of the Milken Educator Award, which carries with it an unrestricted financial award of $25,000. James is the only North Carolina educator to receive the award this year.
