Beginning Drama Beginning Drama is an introductory class. Students will learn basic information about ensemble ethic, types of theatre, acting, technical theatre and playwriting. This is a chance to see if any part of theatre appeals to you. The basic skills learned in this class will prepare you for further work in higher levels of theatre and for the culminating project. The final project for this class is to produce short student written and student acted plays. Below you will find documents/projects for this class.

Unit 1 Students learn important parts of the stage while using the stage to perform a storytelling performance. Students are resonsible for using their voices correctly while telling a story to the class. |

Unit 2 Student learn the basics of acting and movement onstage through the performance of a poem. Students will be responsible for using the rehersal process and memorization to complete the performance. |

Unit 3 Students learn the basics of techinical theatre, and demonstrate knowledge by hand sewing a puppet and then creating the backdrop for an original puppet performance.

Unit 4 Students learn about the start of theatrical tradition in Ancient Greece. Knowledge of the style of theatre and tragedy are used in the performance of an original adaptation of an ancient play. |

Unit 5 Students learn about playwriting and creating characters. Each student will write a 6 page play to be considered as one of the final plays to perform for the final performance. |

Unit 6 Students learn about monologue and auditioning. Each student will get a monologue, memorize and perform it for the class as an audition for the final performances. | ||

Unit 7 Students learn about the rehearsal process through the production of some of the original plays written during Unit 5. This project will culminate in the class final performance.
