Businesses for Excellence in Education |
Businesses for Excellence in Education is an Action Greensboro initiative that gives corporations a way to work together to help raise the bar of educational excellence in our schools. Through their combined support and partnership, these businesses are playing a major role in raising student performance, promoting excellence in education, closing the achievement gap and enhancing teacher quality.
Corporate donations currently support these initiatives: This program celebrates the academic success of graduating seniors who pass at least five Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate exams during their high school career. Every August, more than 400 students and their families gather together as students try their luck at winning computers, scholarships and, the grand prize, a new car.
Launched in January 2011, the Guilford Parent Academy serves as a one-stop shop for free information and training on a variety of topics for parents, grandparents and family members caring for our students.
This event truly is a celebration! Businesses for Excellence in Education recognizes and gives a cash award to the 16 most academically improved schools in the district. In addition, the event celebrates staff recognitions such as our Employees of the Month, Principal and Teacher of the year. |
