The North Carolina General Assembly established the School-Based Management and Accountability Program with the overall purpose of improving student performance. The law specifies that each school shall develop a school improvement plan (SIP) on a two-year cycle. School improvement is an on-going process. In Guilford County Schools, SIPs are reviewed quarterly and updated accordingly based on a careful review of student performance data, existing goals, strategies, programs, and resources. The 2012-14 school improvement planning cycle provided an opportunity for each school to develop new SIPs that reaffirm the district’s commitment to excellence and to provide all stakeholders - teachers, students, parents, staff, administration and community - an opportunity to participate in establishing the key elements of that commitment.
