Kaili Ingram

Kaili Ingram decided to follow a different path through high school after meeting The Middle College at Bennett’s principal Esther Coble.  Ingram says the ability to take classes on a college campus has been very beneficial to her, and has afforded her many opportunities through high school.  Ingram has been awarded a Presidential scholarship and will use it to attend St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh where she’ll major in visual arts.

Brittany Minor
Brittany Minor enrolled as a junior at The Middle College at Bennett. This was her third high school.  Her education was hindered by her circumstances as a child in the foster care system, but she has overcome and has received a full scholarship to Elizabeth City State University.

Renisha Hudson

Renisha came to Bennett in January of 2008 from High School Ahead.  She has worked hard and completed her high school requirements in 3 ½ semesters.  She is a dedicated young lady and did an outstanding job in her graduation project.  She is headed to GTTC in the fall.

Marisol Bello-Morales

Marisol came to the Middle College at Bennett at age 15 with a GPA of 1.0 and an infant son.  She has negotiated obstacles that would have made others give up.  Cultural barriers often presented themselves; many times Marisol needed to miss school to serve as the family interpreter.  As the oldest sibling in her family, she frequently needed to shoulder responsibility for her siblings when her mother was not available.  Often her family’s work obligations meant that Marisol had no back-up if her son was sick and not able to go to day care.  Due to these circumstances there were times Marisol fell so far behind in her school work it seemed impossible for her to catch up and she said more than once she was just going to quit school, but she didn’t.  Marisol will be the first person in her family to graduate from high school.
