Hello!

My name is Kristen Porter and I have been teaching at Florence Elementary for thirteen years now! I have truly found this school to be my home. I have taught third, first, and fourth grades in my years at Florence. I have my Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Greensboro College as well as my English as a Second Language Add-on certificate from UNC-G. I also am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher in Middle Childhood Education. Currently, I am working on my Masters degree in Education with a concentration in literacy from High Point University. So, as you can tell I am a life long learner!

Besides learning and teaching I do enjoy spending time with family and friends. I am a native of West Virginia, where my parents currently live and I have two younger sisters who live in Pittsburgh, PA and Salisbury, MD. I love to travel and spent my summer this past year in Maine and California. I also enjoy scrapbooking, reading, and watching WVU football and basketball games! I am also a mom to a wonderful six year old Brittany-Spaniel, named Abbie.
