Sunday, August 28th, 2011

We would like to thank our students, parents, and staff for a wonderful school opening.  This is the beginning to more great things to come.  Parents thank you for being patient while waiting in the car rider line.  Your wait time should decrease after the first ten days of school when many of our students will receive their awaiting bus assignments.

Parents please complete and return all forms sent home last week.  Teachers need this information so we may ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.  All forms are due to your child's teacher by this Tuesday, Aug. 30th.

Bluford's fall fundraiser will begin Tuesday, Aug. 30th and last until Thursday, September 15th.  Please help us provide extra activities for our students by participating in the fall fundraiser.

Monday, Sept. 5th is Labor Day.  Bluford will be closed for all staff and students.

Sunday, September 11th, 2011

Parents please remember that regular school hours for Bluford students are from 7:55 until 2:35. Students may enter the building at 7:30 each morning. Do not drop your child off before this time. Teachers are unable to receive students until 7:30.

Please make sure your child is on time and at school each day. Please refrain from picking your child up early unless it is extremely necessary. Teachers teach until the end of the school day. So please help us ensure that your student has a full day of school each day. Every precious minute is important. The school social worker and I will be monitoring tardies, absences and early dismissals of students very closely.

If your child is a car rider, please be patient as our staff load cars each day. Please do not park in Dudley High School's parking lot and walk to the building to get your child. This creates a very unsafe environment for our students, you and others pick up their children. As students receive bus assignments, the line will decrease significantly.

Shirrelle Uniforms will be at Bluford Tuesday, September 13th from 2-6 pm.

Wednesday, September 14th is an early dismissal day for Bluford Students. Students will be dismissed at 12:30. ACES will operate until 6 pm.

The SES Tutor Vender Fair will be held Wednesday, September 14th from 5:15-7:30. Parents if you are interested in your child receiving free tutoring, please plan to attend this event. We will have over forty different tutor groups at Bluford for you to choose from. I am asking that parents meet with me in the Blfuord Media center at 5:15 so we may equip you with questions to ask the tutor group representatives. This may assist you in making the best choice for your child

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

The PTA fundraiser will end Monday, September 19th.  Please do not send any money with your child to school.  The Bluford staff or PTA is not responsible for lost money sent by a child.  You may drop off your money tomorrow between 7:30-8:30 am and between 6:00-7:00 pm.

Parents if your child is a car rider please do not drop them off in front of the school in the morning.  I am asking you to please use the car rider drop-off and pick-up area that can be accessed by taking the road between Bluford and Dudley's football field.  We have had several incidences where students were almost hit by cars as they crossed the streets.  We have also had some car accidence in this area.  Greensboro police department will begin patrolling this area to ensure the safety of our students.
