Some of the Services School Social Work may include:

Assisting student needs, Coordinating services for families and students, Identifying and removing barriers to education, Identifying situations at school with may impact learning, Intervening in situations involving family dysfunction, Meeting with students individually and in groups, Networking with community agencies and identifying resources for families, Providing outreach for parents, Serving as an advocate for the child's eductional needs. 

When a student is referred to me it often includes one or more of the following:

Academic achievement, Absenteeism/truancy, Child abuse/neglect, Economic deprivation, Family dysfunction, Family violence, Inadequate healthcare, Inappropriate or life-threatning behaviors, Lack of understanding of school policies and procedures and substance abuse.
