Guilford County Board of Education Regular Meeting November 8, 2011 | To: | Members, Board of Education | From: | Maurice O. Green, Superintendent Nora Carr, Chief of Staff | Date: | November 4, 2011 | RE: | GCS Counselors Named Elementary and Secondary Counselors of the Year |
At its November 8, 2011 meeting, the Board of Education will recognize Vandalia Elementary counselor Kelly Ingram and Andrews High counselor Cory Notestine, who were named the Elementary and Secondary School Counselor of the Year, respectively, by the North Carolina School Counselor Association (NCSCA). Both were recognized at the NCSCA Conference on Nov. 3 at the Koury Convention Center in Greensboro. Ingram has been the counselor at Vandalia for seven of the nine years she has worked in the district. She has dedicated much of her time getting her students involved in service learning through her Cougar Care Club. Her dedication to service learning helped her club be chosen as one of Oprah’s O Ambassadors project in 2010. Notestine is a National Certified Counselor and sits on the governing board for the NCSCA, serving as the treasurer. He has served students at Andrews for the past four years.
