· Updates for the home page should be sent to Brent Miller (millerd5@gcsnc.com) via email.

· You should send pictures of class activities.  Digital cameras can be checked out from media center or you may use the camera feature on your iPad2.  You should also send alerts when major projects/events are occurring along with any other information that may need to be posted on the home page.  

Teacher will maintain a list of parent email addresses, create a distribution list and communicate with parents via email.

· Collect email address from parents during Open Houses (sign-in sheets).  You should also have a student information form for your personal use that is sent home.  Make sure there is a section for parents to give you their email address.

ALL EMAILS SENT TO PARENTS SHOULD BE PRINTED OUT FOR DOCUMENTATION AND KEPT IN A FOLDER. YOUR EMAIL CORRESPONDENCE FILE WILL BE REVIEWED DURING YOUR OBSERVATION PERIODS.

· Update parents individually on student progress, recognition, behavior and classroom events via email.

· You will also need to create a distribution list to send mass emails to all your parents.  (SEE ATTACHED INSTRUCTIONS)

Teacher will stay abreast of the happenings at Montlieu and GCS

· ALL staff members should check their school email accounts at least 3 times daily.  This will keep you abreast of updates and emergencies.

Teacher will use technology to limit the amount of paper consumed at Montlieu.

Teachers will create a MINIMUM of two extended projects per quarter that address 21st century skills/literacies.

 

Teachers will place artifacts and/or photos of project based learning on their classroom website for parents and community members to view.

 

Teachers will provide opportunities for students to showcase/present projects to the class and/or grade level.

 

Teachers will ensure that students understand that they are to keep all projects saved for the duration of the school year. Students will be selected to present these projects during various showcase events throughout the school year.

Demonstration of Benchmark 3 Technology Integration with iPad2

Teachers, instructional staff, and students will use the iPad2 DAILY. Teachers will create meaningful lessons that will allow students to utilize the iPad2 for at least 50% of the school day.

 

Teachers and instructional staff will integrate the iPad2 with web pages, software, documents and Keynote presentations.

 

Teachers will create lessons/activities that will allow students to create various products as a means of demonstrating understanding. Teachers will also utilize apps in order to allow students to practice various skills as they work towards mastery.

 

Teachers will plan the usage of apps via lesson planning and monitor that students are on task and utilizing appropriate apps during the instructional day. 

 

Teachers and instructional staff will train students on how to properly use and care for the iPad2.
