Spanish I

Week I - August 7-10 - Introduction to Spanish I. Greetings 7 farewells, #'s, vowel sounds & introduction to "telling time".  Quiz on #'s 1-15 on Thursday.

Week 2 =  August 13 - 17.Chapter 1A =  Test Chapter 1A - Friday

Read, listen to, and explain information about activities people like & don't like to do

Lexical use of : gustar, infinitives ( hablar por telefono, estudiar, escuchar musica, leer, etc.) negatives and structures to express agreement and disagreement.

 Week 3 August 20 - 23 Chapter 1B - Read, listen to, and explain information about persoanlity traits, ask and tell what people are like , & use adjectives to describe people. Test 1B -Thursday.

Week 4 -August 27 - 31. Chapter 2A - : Tu dia escolar ( your school day). Objectives: talk about school schedules and subjects, discuss what students do during the day. and ask and tell who is doing an action. Test 2A - Friday

Week 5 - September 4 - 7.Chapter 2B : Tu sala de clases. Objectives: Describe a classroom, indicate where things are located, talk aboutmore than one object or person. Test 2B- Friday.

Week 6- Chapter 3A September 10 - 14.: Desayuno o almuerzo (breakfast or lunch). Objectives: Talk about foods and beverages for breakfast or lunch, talk about likes and dislikes and express how often something is done.  Test 3A -  Friday

Week 7 - Chapter 3B - September 19-21: Para mantener la salud(To maintain your health)- Vocabulary: food, beverages, expressions to discuss health, expressions to discuss preferences, agreement & disagreement, and quantity plus ajectives to describe food.  Grammar: the plural of adjectives and the verb "ser" (to be).

 Week 8- Complete Chapter3B(test) and introduce Chapter 4A= Learn vocabulary about locations in the community, and leisure activities.  Introduce the verb "ir" to go and learn how to ask questions (where? when? who?  with whom?  why? ) Learn interrogative words in target language. 

 Week 9 - (Oct. 1-Oct. 5)Chapter 4A reveiw, introduce 4B. Learn vocabulary about sports and other activities. Present tense of verbs jugar -to play, querer - to want, poder -to be able.  Students will be able to extend and reject invitations and give reasons why they are not able to do certain activities during weekdays.  Review of weekdays and telling time.  Test of Chapter 4 -Friday
