GCS Volunteer of the Month for November 2009

Louis Chaney believes in building a positive community by impacting one student at a time. That’s why he shares his gifts with the students of Jamestown Middle, even though he doesn’t have a child at the school. He teaches children the benefits of leadership and community service through the Campus Life program, which he oversees.

Chaney doesn’t stop there. He lends an open ear to students who need a positive role model through the Lunch Buddy program. In addition, he has a CDL license, and often volunteers to drive activity buses for field trips and athletic events at no cost.

As GCS Volunteer of the Month, Chaney was surprised with a $25 gift card from American Express, who generously sponsors this recognition. In addition, his photo will hang at the district’s central offices and Jamestown Middle.
