Policies & Procedures
Transportation: You may ONLY ride your assigned bus. Emergency situations need approval from the Transportation office. Please call them directly at 605-3305.
Early Dismissal Procedure: Parents must send a signed note with their child to school with the reason and time of dismissal.
It is the students responsibility to bring the note to the front commons in the morning to be approved and added to the early dismissal list for the day.The student will show the dismissal note to the teacher and then that note becomes their hall pass to the office at the appropriate time. Class may NOT be interrupted for early dismissals. We are only allowed to call for students at the end of the class period . Students who have notes, but forget to come to the office at the time indicated, will only be called at the next class exchange.
2013-2014 Dress Code
Students will adhere to the Dress Code included in the GCS Student handbook. In addition, NWMS has the following guidelines for student attire:
1. Female attire: NO tank tops are allowed. This includes spaghetti straps, off the shoulder, and one shoulder tops. Bare midriff and bare backs are not allowed. Necklines of shirts should not be any lower than the top of the underarm and should not show cleavage. Shirts should overlap pants so NO SKIN SHOWS.
2.Shorts, skirts, skorts, and dresses must extend below the longest finger-tip, when arms are relaxed at the side. This rule should be maintained even when worn with leggings or tights.
3.Leggings and jeggings are not to be worn as pants. If worn, they must be paired with a top, dress, or skirt that meets the finger-tip length.
4.Pajama pants and “soffe” shorts are not to be worn.
5.Male attire should NOT include tank or muscle tops with cut out arms. Boys must wear shirts with sleeves. All pants must be worn at the waist. No sagging or low riding pants.
6.NO undergarments may show. See-through, mesh, or shear clothing must be worn with appropriate garments underneath.
7.Shoes must be worn at all times.
8.Jeans or pants should not have holes in them that are above the finger-tip length.
9.All attire must be free of references to alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and illegal drugs. No offensive, vulgar or profane statements or visual advertisements are allowed. Clothing with messages printed across the seat are not permitted. Messages on clothing should not detract from the school environment or disrupt the learning process.
10.No head wear of any kind (male/female) may be worn in the building. This includes but not limited to hats, hoods, wavecaps, sweatbands, bandanas, scarves, and sunglasses.
Administration reserves the right to modify this policy as necessary and further reserves the right to determine what is considered inappropriate or disruptive. Students will be given the opportunity to change clothes on the first offense. Repeated offenses will likely result in disciplinary action for non-compliance to school rules.
