Weaver Academy Buzz

IMPORTANT!  Weaver faculty, parents, students should NOT park in the parking lot across Spring Street that is marked for Guilford County Schools.  This lot is NOT a part of our campus and vehicles are towed quickly and throughout the day.

 

Parking Stickers are available for purchase in the upstairs Main Office before 9:00am, at lunch 12:10-12:50pm, and after school 4:00-4:30pm.  All students who park at Weaver are required to display a Weaver Academy 2012-2013 Parking Sticker in the front left side of their vehicle’s window.  The cost is $4.00 per sticker.  If you do not have a sticker displayed, your vehicle is subject to towing.

 

SENIORS:  DVDs of the graduation ceremony are on sale now - $20 each.  Checks made payable to Weaver Academy can be turned in to Mrs. Allison by May 30.

 

<NEW> Reminder to ALL STUDENTS:  Materials checked out from the Media Center are due back by Friday, May 24.  Contact Ms. Fisher about replacing any lost materials ASAP at fishere@gcsnc.com or stop by the Media Center.

 

<NEW>Any rising Junior or Senior that is interested in participating in Harvard Model Congress next year, needs to see Mrs. H. Barefoot to pick up an application.

 

Prom 2013 “Midnight in Paris” will be held at the Kress Terrace on Friday, May 31, from 8pm-12am.  Tickets are $40/single and $70/couple.  Tickets will be sold next week.  Any non-Weaver guests must have a Guest Form, even if they have attended a previous dance.  You may pick up a Guest Form from Mrs. Korty.  All completed forms are due back by May 27NO exceptions.

 

All students that wish to volunteer for New Student Orientation in August should sign up with Mrs. Jones in the Counseling Office.  Please be sure to provide a working email that you check regularly.

Applications are available for Youth Leadership Greensboro.  You must be a sophomore, junior, or senior to apply.  Participants take part in five daylong sessions focusing on current issues facing Greensboro, learning about leadership, and meeting with community and organization leaders.  Applications are available in the Counseling Office and also at www.greensboroyouthcouncil.com.  Deadline is June 3.

 

Want to be a performer in the Fun Fourth Festival taking place in Downtown Greensboro on July 4 this year?  Complete the application – make certain to note you attend Weaver Academy – at

Noble Hour help sessions are offered the first and third Thursdays of each month during lunch in the Computer Lab.  Any students who need assistance in learning how to log their service hours may go to the Computer Lab for help once they have finished eating.  No food is allowed upstairs.

 

You can support our school by registering your Harris Teeter VIC Card online or at the store to benefit Weaver Academy.  Simply give the cashier your VIC Card and the school’s Together in Education Number2889 – during checkout. You may also link your VIC Card to the PTSA’s Together in Education Number5365.  Go to www.harristeeter.com to register both numbers.
