After three rounds, the final groups have been set, and the stage is ready for nine Guilford County Schools (GCS) students who are competing for the title in their respective age groups of Triad Idol 2010, sponsored by The Community Theatre of Greensboro.
Fifteen finalists in three age groups will compete in the final competition on Sunday, June 13 at 3 p.m. at the Carolina Theatre. At the end of the final event, three 2010 Triad Idols will be crowned and the first and second runners-up, and the audience favorite in each age group also will be named.
The judges evaluate each finalist on singing ability, vocal style and stage presence, which accounts for 80 percent of the singer’s score, while the audience will count as the remaining 20 percent of each contestant's score. Audience members can cast their votes for $1 during the intermission following each contestant’s performance.
The Triad Idol in each age group will receive a prize package including $1,000 cash, several opportunities to perform with the Community Theatre of Greensboro, a professional headshot photograph and other prizes.
