Guilford County Schools (GCS) Superintendent Maurice "Mo" Green has
been selected to serve on the North Carolina High School Athletic
Association (NCHSAA) Board of Directors, the association announced
Wednesday.
Green was selected after being nominated by a fellow NCHSAA member.
"Green has a fantastic background," said Rick Stunk,
associate executive director of NCHSAA. "He's well aware of the
association and how it operates, and he will make a wonderful board
member."
The Board of Directors meets twice annually to set
policies for the association from how championships are run, to
beginning/ending dates of seasons and determinations for eligibility.
The NCHSAA administers the state's interscholastic
athletic program. Any North Carolina public or non-boarding parochial
high school is eligible for membership, provided it is accredited by the
state Department of Public Instruction and that the school adopts and
maintains a prescribed code to guarantee fair competition. Founded in
1913, the NCSHAA now has 386 member schools and certifies the
eligibility of more than 150,000 athletes annually.
