District Receives Financial Reporting Award
| Wednesday, July 13th, 2011 |
The Guilford County Board of Education received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report. The award, which reflects the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, was presented to Chief Financial Officer Sharon Ozment and the Financial Services Department as the team responsible for preparing the award-winning financial report.
Ozment and her team were recognized at tonight’s board meeting. The department has received the Certificate of Achievement each year since 1994.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting. Its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government organization and its management.
The district’s financial report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program. This included demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate the district’s financial story and motivate potential users to read the report. |
