Guilford County Schools (GCS) staff members will be available to accept parent feedback on a draft of the district's improvement plan for math during two meetings this week. Comments will also be accepted at school sites and by email through Jan. 5.
Parents are invited to attend the following meetings to discuss the strategies included in the draft of the plan:
-
Tuesday, Dec. 13, 6 p.m. at Falkener Elementary, 3931 Naco Road, Greensboro
-
Thursday, Dec. 15, 6 p.m. at Florence Elementary, 7605 Florence School Road, High Point
For the 2011-12 school year, GCS is in District Improvement under No Child Left Behind for missing its district-wide math goals for two years in a row. As a result, GCS is required to update the strategies in its math improvement plan. Throughout the past month, district staff members have gathered feedback from parents, community members and staff to include in the draft of the plan.
Parents who cannot attend the meetings can review the draft copy of the plan at their child's school and use the comment form to provide feedback. A
copy of the draft plan
is also posted on the GCS website. Comments can be submitted by email to
