Mission Statement My mission as Counselor at Jones Elementary is to provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate counseling program which addresses the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. The School Counseling program’s goal is to assist the school community in providing a safe nurturing and inclusive school environment where students can develop into productive and responsible citizens. Philosophical Beliefs As a School Counselor, I believe: All students have the right to a physically and emotionally safe learning environment. Counselors should be student advocates. All students have the right to speak to a counselor in a timely manner. And that the school counseling program: Be developmental and comprehensive. Address the social, personal and academic needs of all students. Be proactive. Be based on specified goals and developmental student competencies as set forth by the state of North Carolina and the American School Counselor Association. Reinforce character traits valued by the school community. And that all counselors: Work as a liaison between students and community resources. Abide by professional ethics of guidance and counseling as advocated by the American School Counselors Association. Participate in competency renewal programs essential to maintaining a quality counseling program. |
