Guilford County Schools is dedicated to energy efficiency and conservation. We believe that energy efficiency and conservation are important to protect our environment, to preserve our natural resources, to reduce our carbon footprint, and to encourage responsible spending of our community's tax dollars. The GCS Energy Team is responsible for the energy usage at GCS's 122 campuses (comprising 67 elementary schools, 22 middle schools, 26 high schools, and special-use facilities) and various administration buildings across the county. Two years ago, the Energy budget was over $22 million per year (including water and sewer). This year it is under $21 million.
