My name is Candice Bailey, and I am the principal of Doris Henderson Newcomers School. Welcome to the Newcomers School's website.

Doris Henderson Newcomers School is an exciting place to grow, develop and learn.  We strive to provide a safe and caring environment that promotes a successful transition into American schools and culture through challenging academic experiences and language acquisition.  We honor all cultures and heritages represented within our school.  We promote excellence in all that we do.  We recognize and address each student's needs individually to prepare them for a new cultural environment.  The school community promotes the attitudes of self-respect and self-worth in every student.  The success of each child is important to us.

Our experienced staff is dedicated to providing every child with the very best educational opportunities possible.  The staff and I provide a variety of opportunities for students to form meaningful and responsible relationships as they begin the transition to a new culture.  We celebrate the academic and social growth and successes of our students often. 

Community members and supporters of education are our partners in the important job of educating all of the children within the Guilford County community. We realize the importance of successfully transitioning, acclimating and developing each child with the necessary skills and knowledge to be successful, contributing community members.  We look forward to working with all community members for the success of all students.
