Melanie Littlejohn-Lee, School Social Worker

 SOCIAL WORK.....it's what I do

Social Work is the profession of hope, what we do and how we do it "matters" to the lives of the individuals we are connected with. We are one of the nation's largest professions and one of the fastest growing due to the increase for health and aging related services as well as child, family and school based services.

School Social Workers in Guilford County help to maintain constructive and effective relationships between the home, school and community to ensure that the best possible conditions for learning occur. We provide strategic leadership to discourage conditions that may interfere with learning opportunities. Such conditions may include: homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, family violence, child abuse/neglect, behavioral issues, absenteeism, economic deprivation, and lack of understanding of school policies and programs.

You may refer your student and /or family today by calling the school or emailing me at leem4@gcsnc.com. Students/families are also referred by administrators, teachers, counselors, community agencies, parents or they can self refer.

I look forward to servicing you and your family.
