"Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction." ~John F. Kennedy April, 2013 Dear Red Raider Family, Spring is here! It is astonishing to think we are already halfway through the 2nd semester and graduation is right around the corner for our Seniors! Spring is an exciting and busy time of year for our students and staff. Parents, your assistance with the following is both vital and appreciated as we prepare to wind down the 2012 – 2013 school year. · Student Absences: Learning is negatively affected when students are frequently absent from class. With EOC and Vocats testing rapidly approaching at the end of May, good attendance is imperative! In addition, students must complete 45 minutes of make-up time for each absence. If you have questions about your child’s absences, please contact Mrs. Cranford in the Attendance Office.
· Grades/Parent Assistance: Parents can access their child’s current grades online through the NC Wise Parent Assistance program. Our teachers post graded assignments within three to five days after the assignment was given to students. We encourage parents to check their child’s progress in each class on a regular basis, and to contact teachers if there are questions or concerns.
· End of Course (EOC) Tests: Students who are currently enrolled in EOC courses (Algebra 1, Biology, English 10) must take a state End of Course test at the end of the semester. EOC tutorials are currently underway and all students are encouraged to attend. As an added incentive for attending EOC tutorials, students will receive make-up time for their absences. Please call Mrs. Tracey Norton, Assistant Principal, if you have questions regarding EOC tutorials.
Our Red Raider faculty and staff are committed to ensuring the success of our students. We are confident that with the continued support of our parents and community, we will realize our goals—increased attendance, increased proficiency on EOCs, and making AMO! As always, I am grateful for the support, energy, and dedication from all T. Wingate Andrews High School stakeholders. Go Red Raiders!
Sincerely, Mr. Rodney H. Wilds, Principal
