Mission

The mission of Guilford County Schools is to ensure that all students will graduate as responsible citizens prepared to succeed in higher education or the career of their choice.  In support of this mission, the Northwest Middle School Library Media Program strives to ensure that students, teachers, and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

Goals

• To provide a resource collection for students and teachers that is carefully selected and systematiclly organized, that supports the curriculum, and that offers diverse viewpoints and levels of difficulty as well as a variety of information formats 
• To build partnerships with teachers and other members of the school community to provide learning experiences that help students and faculty to understand the importance of information in today's world so that they can learn to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively
• To provide leadership in identifying the resources and technologies needed within the school to create an information -rich environment in which students and staff can develop information literacy
• To promote reading for pleasure and as a means of ensuring life-long learning, and
• To provide a media facility that is welcoming and meets teaching and learning needs.
