Welcome to 3rd Grade!


Please help your student memorize their math facts. Several students are struggling with new math concepts as they are making computational errors often.

Students should be reading every day for at least 20 minutes.

Please work with your child on perimeter and area. These skills have been challenging for our class.

Important Dates:

*Feb. 5th - The 100th day of school! Projects due Friday, Feb. 8th.

*Feb. 6th - Field trip to the Greensboro Historical Museum

*Feb. 11th - Brass Ensemble performance

*Feb. 14th - Early Release! Students will dismiss at 12:30. Students may bring Valentine's Day cards/treats for all students in the class if they choose. We will not have a party, but I will allow time to share their cards. Teachers will have professional development that day.

*Feb. 18th - Workday-No school for students; Presidents' Day

*Feb. 25th - Interim reports go home; half-way through third quarter

*March 5th - Class picture day

*March 8th - Sock Hop at Westover Church! 7-8:30 p.m. I can't wait to see everyone there!

*March 13th - Early Release. Students dismiss at 12:30. Teachers will have professional development in the afternoon.

*March 21st - Arts Extravaganza at 6:30 p.m.

*March 27th - Spring picture day

*March 28th - Third quarter grading period ends

*March 29th-April 7th - Spring Vacation; Enjoy your break, but please read every day and study your math.

*April 8th - Back to school :) It's time to buckle down and get prepared for the EOG! :)

Useful Links - These are some fun websites that may be beneficial for your child. They can play the games at night, on the weekends, during a break, or throughout the summer to keep their skills sharp.

Math - There are several parent helper sheets in this section to help the parents so that they can in turn help their child.

Spelling - The spelling lists for each week are in this section in case your child misplaced their copy.

EOG Tips - Information for parents and students about how to best prepare for testing.
