Hello parents, I would like to thank you for visiting the PE website. I would like to first encourage all of you to contact me with any questions you may have about your children and their activities and I would like to help with questions you may have for living a healthy lifestyle. In our PE classes we like to encourage having fun but also using self discipline in a way to create a positive environment. We do a lot of teamwork activities to encourage working together and helping others. Teamwork and selfliness are key parts of creating success in any environment. We encourage the power of choice and remind the students that they have the power to choose. They choose right or wrong, love or hate, to be good or bad, to listen or not listen. All these choices are out there for them to make every day, which one will you as a parent help your child make. In our classes students are taught different skills and ideas that they can utilize at home to help make them healthier. These skills vary from proper running techniques to doing push-ups and crunches correctly. They are given different ideas about eating choices and foods that are better for you.

FITNESSGRAM TESTING: The state of N.C. has implemented a Physical Education test for all elementary and middle school students. The test is designed to establish and follow up on the health and well being of our children. The tests are downloaded into a state memory bank that can be monitored by myself and FITNESSGRAM officials. The test will only include students that are in grades 3-5, however 2nd grade will spend time practicing and preparing for their 3rd grade test. There are six test that each child will be tested on. The tests that our students perform to show body strength are the push-up and the curl-up. They are tested for flexibility by doing the sit & reach and trunk lift. They will also do a mile run for the testing of their endurance. The students height and weight are also measured and recorded. There is an opt out form if you choose to not have your child be measured in the height and weight. Click on the attachment below. |
