Ms. Tonya Bodie, Math Teacher

I grew up in Virginia and moved to the Greensboro area when I was a sophomore in high school so I am a product of Guilford County Schools.  I was fortunate enough to receive a NC Teaching Fellows scholarship which helped pay for my undergraduate degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Appalachian State University.

Though I fell in love with the mountains, I missed my family.  I returned to the Greensboro area to begin my teaching career at Southwest Guilford High school.  I enjoyed my time there but was really intrigued by the middle college concept.  When a position became available in 2004, I was eager to join the staff of GTCC Early/Middle College at Jamestown.  That was the same year that we began working with New Schools Project.  As our program has morphed and changed over time, so have my teaching practices.  I enjoy trying new things and really love working with high school students.
