I am Cathy May, the media specialist here at Allen Middle School. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master's degree in Library and Information Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. This is my sixteenth year in education and in November of 2007, I received National Board Certification in Library Media. Not only am I certified to teach information skills, but I am also certified to teach high school English and students with learning disabilities. I have two teenage daughters in the Guilford County School System. I enjoy reading, traveling, and Carolina sports. I look forward to working with each of your children this year in the media center!

Battle of the Books is a quiz bowl type competition between schools. Many Guilford County Middle Schools participate each year. There are up to twenty-seven books chosen by a committee of members from the North Carolina School Library Media Association.
