Aggieland Championship FTC Alliance Finalists (AGAIN!)

February 27, 2010

Team 668 achieved victory for a second FTC Robotics Season!  The ironic part of the story is that Team 668 was paired with the same team last year, Team 2827 of Durham, NC.  Our team members worked extremely hard to produce a great robot named "Iron Flipper".  This year's FTC challenge was called Hot Shot in which teams had to design, construct and test a robot to collect and launch wiffle balls into a high goal, low goal or an off-field goal.  Team 668 would like to thank our team mentor and consultant, Mr. Travis Helms for his outstanding guidance and patience.

Club News

New meeting dates have been added to the Southeast Robotics Club build sessions.

Keep a sharp eye on the Robotics Activity Calendar.  Times are being updated for our build sessions after each session.  All club members are encouraged to attend our build sessions.  This is a great way to build your skills and contribute to team success.

Coaches Challenge:  Bryan, Josh, and Kevin met the challenge by bringing in design ideas. If their idea or a modified version of it is chosen as our competition design the club member will be presented a prize.  These designs had to be presented at the January 21st meeting to be eligible.

The Southeast Robotics Club will meet on Thursdays from 3:50 - 4:30 in the annex classroom of Mrs. Antoinette Cheek.

Please subscribe to this page so that we can notify you when updates are made.

Southeast Robotics Club Fundraiser

Thanks to the SEHS Robotics Booster Club for supporting our 1st fundraiser.  We had a great show of support from the community, which was demonstrated by a successful fundraiser.

Southeast Robotics Club at Emerald Pointe

Training Opportunities:

All club members are expected to read the complete set of rules for the 2009-2010 FTC competition. As we progress with our design it is important that we re-read them and become very familiar with the guidelines. Many teams in the Richmond competition failed inspection and were unable to compete. Let's make sure that it doesn't happen to us.

NC FTC Kick-Off Event

NC FTC Kick-Off Event

Team members, mentors, and coaches attended the 2009-2010 Kick-off event at A&T University on 9/12/09.

Topics for break out sessions included:

Fundraising

Judge's Interview and the Engineering Notebook

Coaching and Team Management

Programming Overview

Bryan, Kevin, Kameron, Korey, Mr. Helms and Mrs. Cheek attended the Richmond FTC Regional Tournament on Dec 12th.  Great ideas were gleaned from this experience. Many teams were unable to compete because they failed inspection, so we must be familiar with the guidelines for competition.  I have posted new .pdf files in the training section of this website. Try and look these over again before our meeting this Thursday. It is important that you come prepared to the meeting.

The Southeast Robotics Club will meet on Thursdays from 3:50 - 4:30 in the annex classroom of Mrs. Antoinette Cheek.
